LED Color Organ



If you like lights and music, youll have fun building this LED Color Organ. You plug your music into it, and the circuit divides the sound into high, mid, and low frequencies and then flashes 3 different colors of LEDs according to those frequencies. Blinky!

Assembly is broken into 4 parts:

The audio input the circuitry that takes the signal from the audio jack.
High frequency blinks the blue LEDs when high-frequency tones play.
Mid frequency blinks the green LEDs when mid-frequency tones play.
Low frequency blinks the red LEDs when low-frequency tones play.

The audio input

Step 1. first put your 9v clip and put into the board + (red wire) and ground - (black wire)
now get two jump wire run + and - to the both + and - at bottom
this so power and ground back side on the board

Step 2.get a 10k resister and put one leg to power and over you leg to 9 I

Step 3. now put the 2N3904 Transistor to 15H emitter 16H base 17H collector

Step 4.now put a jump wire form ground line put to 15J ( that to the 2N3904 Transistor emitter)

Step 5. now take a 10k resistor one leg go 16G ( 2N3904 Transistor Base) and the over leg gos 9G

Step 6. now get a 1k resistor and put one leg to power line and the over to 17J (2N3904 Transistor collector)

Step 7. now get your Diode, 1N4148 or 1N914 and put leg with black strip to 15F (make sure the black mark on the diode is going to 2N3904 Transistor emitter)
and the over leg to 9F

Step 8.now put a 10 uF electrolytic Capacitor put plus side to 16F ( 2N3904 Transistor Base) and put the negative 16D

Step 9. now get 100r ohm resistor and put one leg 16B and run to 11D

Step 10. now get 100r ohm resistor put one leg to 16A and run to 10C

Step 11. now time to your audio in get your stereo female socket and solder 3 wire to the taps

White wire - Left
Red wire - Right
Black wire - Ground

Step 12. if what more strength can just put some heart sink on the wire cover taps

Step 13. now put the white wire form the audio socket and put into 11A

Step 14. now put the red wire form the audio socket and put into 10A

Step 15. now put the black wire form the audio socket and put into the - ground line


just finish the audio input how to make the High frequency

Step 16. now take a 2N3906 Transistors and put in to 22I (emitter) 23I (base) 24I (collector)

Step 17. now take a jump wire and put one leg to power line and the over leg to 22J (2N3906 Transistors emitter)

Step 18. now get a 2.2k resistor and put one leg to power line and the over leg to 23J (2N3906 Transistors base)

Step 19. now get a Ceramic Disc Capacitor 0.047F (47 nF) put one leg to 23F (2N3906 Transistors base) over the over leg to 23E

Step 20. now run a wire form 17G (2N3904 Transistors collector) to 23C

Step 21. now take one blue led and put the + to the 2N3906 Transistors collector (24J) and put then leg to 25J

Step 22. now take a 100r resistor and one leg to 25F and the over leg to 25E

Step 23. now take one more led and put the + leg to 25A and the - leg to ground line


Now you have finish the High frequency part now to do the Mid frequency.


Step 24. now take a 2N3906 Transistors and put in to 32I (emitter) 33I (base) 34I (collector)

Step 25. now can jump wire and one leg to power and over leg to 32J (2N3906 Transistors emitter)

Step 26, now take a 2.2k resistor and put one leg to power line and the over leg to 33J (2N3906 Transistors Base)

Step 27, now get a Ceramic Disc Capacitor Capacitor, 0.01F (10 nF) and put one leg at 32H (2N3906 Transistors emitter) and the over leg to 33H ( 2N3906 Transistors Base)

Step 28 now take a 0.47F electrolytic Capacitor put the + side to 33F ( 2N3906 Transistors Base) and put negative side to 33E

Step 29 now take a 1k resistor and put one le3g to 33C and the over leg to 23B

Step 30, now get a green led and put the + leg to 34J (2N3906 Transistors collector) and put the over leg to 35J

Step 31, now take 180r and put one leg to 35F and the over leg to 35E

Step 32, now take a green led and put the + leg to 35A and the over leg to ground line


Now you have finish the Mid frequency part now to do the Low frequency.

Step 33, now take a 2N3906 Transistors and put in to 44I (emitter) 45I (base) 46I (collector)

Step 34, now can jump wire and one leg to power and over leg to 44J (2N3906 Transistors emitter)

Step 35, now take a 2.2k resistor and put one leg to power line and the over leg to 45J (2N3906 Transistors Base)

Step 36, now take a 1uF electrolytic Capacitor and put the negative side 45G ( 2N3906 Transistors Base) and over leg to 44G (2N3906 Transistors emitter)

Step 37, new get a 2.2k resistor put one leg to 45F and the over leg to 42C

Step 38, now take a jump wire from 42A to 23A

Step 39 , now get a red led and put the + leg to 46J the over leg to 47J

Step 40, now get a 270r resistor form 47G 47C

Step 41, now take a red led and put the + leg to 47A and the over leg to ground line


now you finish just have to plug in

Step 42, take your Audio splitter, 1 female to 2 male and plug one the jack into the female socket

Step 43, now plug the over jack to a audio source i did on pc but can any headphone plug

Step 44, now plug in headphone or sparkers to the female plug

Step 45, now clip the battery in then now play some music
